Shabbat Shalom
There is a beautiful song, with lyrics written by Rav Hutner, 'In my heart, I will build a Temple, for the adornment of His honor...and to the light, that is always lit, I will take the fire of the altar. And for a sacrifice, I will bring my soul...'...Great singing it just now in serenade form...I hope it wasn't uncomfortable. I just wanted to make the sermon more meaningful.
The kids sing it at their conventions, because it makes them cry when they sing a song in Hebrew. We have taught them well and they know that prayers are more meaningful and heartfelt when they do not understand them.
Now, I understand that many people in this congregation, such as Mr. Goldstone, love the adage that 'I give my soul' to this congregation. You definitely do not give your money. You did donate your car, which the junkyard wouldn't pick up. Thank you for the tax write-off...We are a non-profit...Your stuff that you do not want is not your soul...I was at the garage sale...
What should giving your soul mean Mr. Goldstone?

(25:22) H' would speak with 'you' from upon the cover of the ark, from between the Cherubim.
We see this, right after we are told how to make the Cherubim. The Cherubim are the wing type molds with faces facing each other.
The point is that it is something we made. That is how we speak with H.' Our leader hears from H' threw something we make.
Not to get the wrong idea. The papermiche dog that was donated to the shule was very cute. But that is why we make stuff that is requested. Nobody in the shule wants that papermiche dog in the lobby...make what is requested...
Maybe Tzitzit...maybe a skirt and pants, or something to cover up the children...donate to your kids' cloth...
According to Sforno- solid gold represents the human soul. Solid gold, something not one person in this congregation has donated to the shule.
Money is what represents your soul. That is where you put your soul...not in the...
(25:8) Make for me a Temple and I will dwell there.
Our shule is our Temple, as most of you protest the rebuilding of a the Temple. You all showed up to the anti-Jews in Israel rally last week...

Does H' dwell here?
You can only dwell someplace that you have built. Somewhere that you put your money.
Where has Mr. Goldstone put his money?
China with the family- Yes
The Bowflex machine- Yes- great commercial
A failed business- Yes
Shule- No

Where are you putting your gold? Where does your soul dwell? With Seattle or Denver? Make it a point, Mr. Goldstone, that if you do win this time, the money will go towards purchasing a nice Chanukiah for the shule...still using the tin 'Happy Hanukkah'...

David also tours as a Maggid with very few stories, if you invite him.
