Tzav Excerpts

פרשת צו

Shabbat Shalom

This week, the Torah speaks about the offerings. We are not talking about offering a hand to help out around the shule. Do not worry. You...

The sin offering, which is eaten by the Cohanim, must be eaten that day.
We don't have leftovers when it comes to the Holy food. The sisterhood has been using the same Mother's Cheesecake for the past 5 bar-mitzvahs...

(6:21) The clay/earthenware it was made in, is broken.
Rashi- It must be broken, because it absorbed the holy and it is left over. Which is why all the ancient pottery we find in Israel is broken.
Why do we break? Because it is holy that is left over.
We have to learn how to accept the Holy and live Holy in the moment. You let a moment go by, it is not Holy anymore. You don't show up to your daughter's wedding, Frank, you missed that opportunity to connect with the Holy. You miss your grandfather's funeral, Rivka, you missed that opportunity...You miss out on paying your dues, Mr. Goldsmith, and you do not have a right to eat the Cheesecake at Kiddush. Even if it is leftovers...that money comes from the shule's...

Holy that is left over must be fully burnt, or destroyed. It is as if it becomes sour. Old. Rotten. Like Bernie.
The Holy you let go, you missed out on. We have to use it when it is there. Bernie can barely move. Should have walked when you could, Bernie. Maybe you wouldn't be so angry...Always grunting when people pass. We can hear you, even if you can't hear...

How many opportunities has Binyamin missed out on?..You remember the shidduch I gave you. The young woman who was visiting our beautiful town...What about the time we all saw you at Starbucks. How did you mess that up?...

Not paying the dues. It is burned. You spent it gambling, Goldsmith. You blew the Cheesecake money...Now, the only way we can connect, our offering- "Kiddush-" is through kichel...

David also tours as a Maggid with very few stories, if you invite him.
