Shemini Excerpts
שמיני
Shabbat Shalom
We are not even reading this Parsha this week, but I want the left-wing congregants who are not even keeping the second day, because they are heretics, to feel like you are connected to Israel. Even if they were protesting Israel the other day.
(10:1) Nadav and Avihu brought a fire that was not commanded to them, and they die...
People in this shule have to stop taking initiative. Initiative is bad. Initiaitive is why we have a plant garden in the back of the shule, used as a mechitzah (partition) which is made out of plastic...
We all know, Esther does too much. She volunteers for everything. It is not appreciated...Nobody appreciates it. Nobody wants it.
Nobody wanted the post service cream sponge cake last week. It was Pesach , and if you are not serving macaroons, nobody wants it. Nobody wants macaroons either. It was almost as bad as when Esther brought all of her Mishloahch Manot to shule, right after Purim...You forced it on all of us. We wanted the Entainmann's. Nobody likes your home baked stuff. We couldn't even eat it, because you don't go by Kitniyot (Legumes- if that makes it easier to understand)...
(10:6-11) They learn from this and the people see that they can die for not following the rules. You don't go into the Temple under the influence of alcohal either. 'And to teach the children of Israel, the statutes that H' spoke through Moshe.'
Nadav and Avihu were an example. A Kiddush H' in a way, of what not to do. In this same sense, Mark Simchavitz who intermarried is a a fine example to our community...
Nobody eats Esther's cake, but do we learn from it?
Are you able to follow simple rules and to stay away from your own ideas, which always turn out very bad?
Does the Kiddush club learn from this?
