Korach Excerpts
קרח
Shabbat Shalom
Birthday celebration and they bring whisky. Does nobody remember the fight from two months ago?
The shul is being sued. We now have a no whisky rule...At least until the case is out of the courts, Bernie...He didn't want to take us to Beis Din. Beis Din would side with Kiddush.
(17:26-27) They still fear, even after Aron steps between the people who died from the plague and the living, and the plague stops.
A leader steps between. Not like what happened at Walman's supermarket, when the cashier did not give the sale on Coke, written right on the coupon. The youth were stuck without their director, paying full price...You step between Marty.
(17:28) They complain more. 'Everyone who approaches close to the Mishkan will die.' So don't do it. You all complain, 'It is too cold in the shule.' So wear a jacket. 'The Davening is too long.' So come late, like the kiddush club. Pre-game at home. 'Musaf is too long.' Tailgate it, like the kiddush club. 'Our city is too expensive.' Go to the town next door, who accepted the building of Walmart.
Always complaining. That is what the Jews do again.
Just like the drunkards at the kiddush club. Can't get through two hours without alcohol...Three hour service, but you show up late.
(18:1-6) It is Aron's duty to do the service. And H' tells Aaron that him and his sons are to 'bear the iniquity of the Sanctuary...bear the iniquity of your priesthood.' You take responsibility, you are in charge. The youth director blames the children for the Coke that costs $1.29. The city blames the lack of rainfall for the lack of water. They haven't consulted with Israel about double flushers. The Kiddush club blames the alcohol when they get mad at shul.
And the Levites are to help. You have people that work under you and help. But you are the one responsible. As are they...The Gabai is a different story. He is the worst example of help. He is at the Kiddush club right now.
(18:7) '...the stranger that brings shall die.' If they are not a Cohen, they do not bring the sacrifices. It is simple. What the people said in (17:28) is true. Again. There is iniquity. you can't do everything. You can have a Bar Mitzvah, but the kid can't drink alcohol...
What is a man? Come up here Frank Jr...See your dad. He is at the Kiddush club right now.
A man is somebody who reads the Torah without mistakes....That is why they threw the candies at you.
(18:13) First fruits go to the Cohen. Now we don't get our fruits. Something else to complain about.
When you have teenagers shopping for you, who don't know how to use coupons, or pick out fruit. There is a reason you are there picking out the fruits Marty...
(18:15-18) First borns of cattle, people, livestock, even non-kosher animals, got the Cohanim.
The firstborn child is redeemed for 5 silver shekels.
The Cohanim deserve it. They are the only ones who aren't drunk. They bless us and spread their fingers. We are going to put together a gift basket for our local Cohen, who has not been to shul in a while. He started drinking, because he never got his fruits. Shopping was too much for him. Each person in this congregation is giving him livestock and five shekels. The fact that he had to put a down-payment on his house is wrong...
(18:20) H' tells them 'I am your portion and your inheritance within in the children of Israel.' No inheritance of land. H' is the inheritance. The shul has given me nothing. They gave me a 12 year old bottle of Glenfiddich. That is it.
When you have a responsibility. You bear your iniquity and you must trust in Gd. H' is the portion of the Cohen. And so too is the new dog that the Salomin family just had...
Why do you all need whisky? Can you run the Temple service under the influence...We know the Markowitz's son was driving under the influence. That made the news.
You can't enjoy a good first fruit with whisky. And the people of this congregation are not giving you any of their cattle...Because the congregants at Beis Knesses Beis Emes uSefilah don't care. They want in and out and will complain about going broke...All is too expensive? Do you know how much it costed the Jews in the desert. All complaining.
It is the alcohol that brings out your complaints.
