Shabbat Shalom

(3:11) Moshe asks- Who am I to go to Paro and get the Jews out of Egypt?
Good question. We should be asking who we are. Moshe was a modest man. It would It would have been nice if Michael asked, 'Who am I to open up the ark, when I have no idea how to pull a string and then pull doors open?'...
A pathetic display of congregationizing. That is what this synagogue represents. A lot of undeserved ego. Egotistical madmen fighting over a seat in the back of the shule.

H' tells him (3:12) 'I will be with you.'
Who hear has had H' talk to them? And you still think you can do it all...

What is His name? Ho tells Moshe His name is 'I will be that I will be' (3:14)
Rashi- H'  is going to be with them in the future as He is with the hardships now
H' is with us and there is a lot of hardship...You know who is not there when there is hardship? The Finklsteins. Never have they ever visited the sick. H' is there. Where are the Finklsteins? Not cooking...Never brought food to a home in the community...Shabbis dinner doesn't count. That is offensive. You don't get invited and bring your own chicken to show you are more religious and rude. You bring the chicken when people are sick. Maybe chicken soup.

This is H's name forever (3:15). H' doesn't change. We do.
Mrs. Shwazingfeld has changed the brightness of her outfit every week for the past four years.
Frank has changed. His name used to Shimmy. No. It does not make you more religious.
The Bergenfelds have change the awning on their storefront. I think the nonJews still know it is a kosher butcher.
Once we know that H' doesn't change, we can connect with H' and He will be with us...Not if you have no idea how to open the ark. Just don't have an ego about it...The Finklsteins don't change. I have no idea why it you can't bring split-pea soup.

***These are excerpts from the sermon. For the sermon in its entirety, come see David Kilimnick perform at the Off The Wall Comedy Basement, in downtown Jerusalem.
David also tours as a Maggid around the world, with very few stories.
